  • Wave Runners - Swim Stroke Development and Fitness Class, grades 2-12

    The fall session begins Wednesday, September 12, 2018 and runs through Saturday, November 17, 2018.
    There are no practices on non-school days.
    Very limited tuition reduction/financial assistance is available.  Please email Laura Presburger at lpresburger@xrds for more information.
    Wave Runners Beginner Group: ages 10 and under
    Monday – Wednesday – Friday 5:00pm-6:00pm and
    Saturday 8:00am-9:00am
    Swimmers will develop and improve their skills in all four competitive strokes (freestyle, backstroke, butterfly, and breaststroke).  They will learn important racing skills such as starts and turns. Our goal is to help students see themselves as athletes while maintaining primary focus on a fun, mechanically sound swimming experience.
    Ability to swim 25 yards of freestyle and 25 yards of backstroke or backstroke kick.

    Wave Runner Intermediate/Advanced Group: ages 9 and older
    Monday – Wednesday – Friday 6:00pm-7:30pm and
    Saturday 7:30am-9:00am
    Practices are designed to develop swimmers’ overall performance and dedication to the sport while simultaneously providing a fun and engaging team atmosphere. Our focus is on the continued development of individual’s competitive skills both in practice and at meets by setting goals, refining stroke mechanics and implementing a challenging workout regime. 
    Ability to swim a minimum of 25 yards in all four racing strokes (Butterfly, Backstroke, Freestyle, Breaststroke).  Swimmers will be placed in either intermediate or advanced levels based on overall ability.

Important Information

Fees & Materials
Summer course fees include all class materials, supplies, field trip expenses and a t-shirt. Books are not provided for Upper School courses. A book list will be provided. Students in grades 6-12 are expected to bring notebooks, paper, pencils and pens to class on the first day.  

Food is available for purchase at the 21st Street Campus during snack and lunch.

Extended Care
There is no extended care on the 21st Street Campus, however, several classes meet from 1-4 p.m., 1-5 p.m. and 3:15-5 p.m.
