Aquatics for All Ages

Our outdoor and heated pool is 40' x 75' (6 lanes across; 25 yards long) with overflow gutters. There is a large shallow step area. Our pool is designed primarily for instruction and student swim activities like competitive teams and conditioning. The depth of the pool ranges from 3' to 6' 7". No flotation devices are permitted.

Our Aquatics staff members are American Red Cross certified in Water Safety Instruction and/or Lifeguarding.

A variety of programming is available at our swim facility. 

Our Saturday Private Swim Lessons are enrolling now. They begin in April and run through October.

Our Life Guard Training/Certification courses are also enrolling now. One session is held in March and the other session is held in May.

    Kids are provided the opportunity to learn and enhance their aquatics skills and fitness through a variety pool and dryland activities including swimming for fitness, stroke/swim race development, modified water polo, synchronized swimming and other pool games. Swimmers participate in pool practice and out of water activities. Swimmers are tested and grouped according to their skill level.

    Swimmers learn to enhance swimming skills while focusing on strength, endurance, health, and fitness. Swimmers have lessons in the pool and participate in out of water activities. Swimmers are tested and grouped according to their skill level. 

    Program participants, minimally, should be able to float on their back and stomach, go underwater comfortably and hold their breath for at least 5 seconds, freestyle 10 yards and swim 5 yards of backstroke. 

    Students joining the Camp in the Afternoon or the Musical Theater program will be transitioned by the Aquatics Staff to their program’s meeting area.

    Join this multi-level level swim team designed to combine stroke refinement with endurance building workouts. Swimmers learn and refine all techniques and skills needed to swim at a beginning competitive ability in a low-key, supportive, and fun atmosphere. Skills include: dives, relay-starts, flip-turns, and finishes with special attention to proper stroke technique. Dry-land activities are included in the instruction. Bring a swim cap, goggles, suit and towel to each practice. Swimmers may bring non-slip flip-flops for the locker room. This program is held at our swim facility at the Norton Campus. Pick-up of students for this class is at our pool. 

    Swimmers should have an understanding of the four main strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly) and be able to perform freestyle 10 to 15 yards, backstroke 5 to 10 yards and breaststroke 5 yards. All enrolled students must pass a swim skills test.

  • Wave Runners - Swim Stroke Development and Fitness Class, grades 2-12

    Pre-team stroke development: 
    This is intended for swimmers who are comfortable swimming freestyle and backstroke (for at least 25 yards) and have a basic understanding of breaststroke and butterfly. 

    The course is intended to continue fostering and improving stroke mechanics while simultaneously building endurance, racing performance and an overall love of the sport.
     
     
    Advanced Swim Conditioning: 
    This course is intended for swimmers who have mastered the mechanics of the four competitive swim strokes. Although stroke form will continue to be at the core of the workouts, much attention will be paid to interval training, race-pace sets and strength and conditioning. 
     
    Optional swim meets will be available to student in the program this summer. Details will be sent home in the summer.

  • Aqua Aerobics for Adults, Age 18 and Older

    Stretch, tone, and strengthen the body through exercise in the water. Water provides twelve times the resistance and gives you a total body workout. Increase your energy and improve your health without getting hot, sweaty, or sore. Dress comfortably for the water. No previous swim experience is required. This class runs throughout the school year and the enrollment is on-going. Class does not meet on Non School Days or holidays. Participants must complete a Use of Pool Waiver before the first class. Once enrolled for the summer, participants may take classes during fall, winter and spring.

  • Life Guard Training/Certification, ages 15-adult

    Crossroads Aquatics is offering a 2-day blended learning program for American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.
     
    Requirements/Info:
    • At least 15 years old at the time of the class
    • Ability to swim 300 yards (100 free, 100 breast, 100 either of the two strokes)
    • Tread water for 2 minutes with no hands
    • Retrieve a submerged 10 pound brick from the deep end of the pool and return to the starting position 20 yards away in 1:40
    • All students should bring their own suit/towel/goggles

    Crossroads offers American Red Cross blended learning courses, which consist of both online and pool/classroom components. The American Red online course will prepare participants for the Crossroads classroom/pool skill session and must be completed by no later than a week after the first in-class date.
     
    Once the student has been registered for the course below, Crossroads will send information to register for the American Red Cross On-line training course.

    Make-up lessons are not given. Your child should attend each scheduled lesson.
     

    Students enrolled in Afternoon Camp or Musical Theater Company will be walked to the pool for their lesson. Every effort will be made to schedule your student on an alternate Afternoon Camp swim day.
     

    Your child may attend Extended Care on their private swim day at no additional charge before or after their lesson until 5:30pm.

  • Swim Team, All levels, grades 1-5

    Join this multi-level level swim team designed to combine stroke refinement with endurance building workouts. Swimmers learn and refine all techniques and skills needed to swim at a beginning competitive ability in a low-key, supportive, and fun atmosphere. Skills include: dives, relay-starts, flip-turns, and finishes with special attention to proper stroke technique. Dry-land activities are included in the instruction. Bring a swim cap, goggles, suit and towel to each practice. Swimmers may bring non-slip flip-flops for the locker room. This program is held at our swim facility at the Norton Campus. Pick-up of students for this class is at our pool. 

    Swimmers should have an understanding of the four main strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly) and be able to perform freestyle 10 to 15 yards, backstroke 5 to 10 yards and breaststroke 5 yards. All enrolled students must pass a swim skills test.

    Swimmers should have a basic knowledge of all four competitive swim strokes and be able to swim minimally one lap of each stroke at a competitive level. 

    This program is held at our swim facility at the Norton Campus. Students enrolled in an afternoon program at the 21st Street Campus are transported by bus. Bus transportation to the pool is provided at 3:00pm for those students already enrolled in afternoon courses. End-of-day pick-up is at the Pool at the Norton Campus.

  • Wave Runners - Swim Stroke Development and Fitness Class, grades 2-12

    Pre-team stroke development: 
    This is intended for swimmers who are comfortable swimming freestyle and backstroke (for at least 25 yards) and have a basic understanding of breaststroke and butterfly. 

    The course is intended to continue fostering and improving stroke mechanics while simultaneously building endurance, racing performance and an overall love of the sport.
     
     
    Advanced Swim Conditioning: 
    This course is intended for swimmers who have mastered the mechanics of the four competitive swim strokes. Although stroke form will continue to be at the core of the workouts, much attention will be paid to interval training, race-pace sets and strength and conditioning. 
     
    Optional swim meets will be available to student in the program this summer. Details will be sent home in the summer.

  • Pool Accessibility

    Our pool and locker facilities are handicap accessible.
  • Swimmer Information

    Swimmers must provide their own towels, water shoes and goggles. Waterproof sunscreen is also recommended. Swimmers may bring non-slip flip-flops for the locker room. Lockers are available for storage of clothing during each class time.

    Parents are required to be on deck during private lessons on Monday through Friday if their swimmer is not enrolled in the afternoon summer session and always during Saturday private lessons.  Parents are not allowed in the locker rooms at any time.
