  • Arcade Mania, grades 1-5, [NEW]

Do you like to play arcade games? Inspired by Caine’s Arcade, children have the opportunity to design and build their favorite arcade games using cardboard and recycled materials. The possibilities are endless! Students can create Whack-A-Mole, Skee-Ball, The Claw, Pop-a-Shot, mazes, and more. The week culminates with inviting students at school to play our games and win tickets that can be redeemed for small prizes. We design and create our own ticket redemption booth for this week’s fun culminating event.

  • Mindfulness, grades 3-5 [NEW]

In this class, we explore the definition of mindfulness and how mindful awareness can help us become more present in our day to day lives as we learn, play, and grow! Students receive a mindfulness journal to use throughout the week to keep track of and reflect on the various learning activities.  Students are encouraged to practice mindfulness at home with their friends and family with a daily “mindfulness challenge”. The class offers fun and engaging, hands-on activities around the topics of mindful breathing, mindfulness of the 5 senses, mindfulness of thoughts and feelings, becoming a mindful student, and mindfulness of art, music and movement. Students learn a new way of being in the world which can lead to greater awareness of both themselves and others, as well as improved social-emotional skills.

For learners entering grades 3-5, the class incorporates a greater emphasis on self-reflection through writing, a more in-depth scientific look at how mindfulness changes the brain and how mindful practices can help students cope with challenges and thrive as students and citizens.

  • Swim, Splash & Play, grades 1-5 [NEW]

For children looking to develop their swimming and water safety skills, our one-week, all-day learn to swim program provides small group instructional swim lessons, fun pool games, and modified aquatics sports along with out-of-water activities in a safe and fun learning environment.

    Requirements
Program participants must be water-safe. Minimally, participants should be able to float on their back and stomach, go underwater comfortably and hold their breath for at least 5 seconds and swim front or back crawl unassisted for 5 yards.
Children who are unable to meet the above requirements should consider enrolling in our private swim lesson program.

    Small Group Swim Lessons
Participants are swim tested on the first day of the program and placed in groups of 3 to 6 swimmers based on their current aquatic skill levels. Each group is taught by one of our American Red Cross certified Water Safety Instructors, who is accompanied by an Assistant Instructor. Our teaching philosophy consists of creating a learning environment in which swimmers improve their swimming and water safety skills in a fun atmosphere that encourages confidence and enjoyment in the water. Our instructors do not force skills, but instead enable swimmers to learn and practice at a pace that is suitable for their individual development.

    Pool Games/Aquatics Activities
In addition to daily swim lessons, swimmers participate in a variety of pool games such as Sharks and Minnows, Treasure Hunt and Raft Races. They also enjoy modified aquatics sports such as water polo, synchronized swimming and diving. At week’s end, a swimming showcase takes place with invited family and friends encouraged to attend as spectators. Swimmers participate in activities, games and events suited to their swimming ability.

    Dryland Activities
Along with time in the pool, swimmers also have the opportunity to participate in a variety of out-of-water activities including swim stretching exercises, studying competition videos and playing games.

    Lunch and Snack
Each day includes a snack and lunch break.

    Daily Schedule
The specific schedule of activities for each week may vary depending on enrollment.
Typically, swimmer will spend 4 to 4 ½ hours in the water each day with breaks for snack and lunch as well as options for out of water games and activities throughout the day. We schedule both indoor and outdoor dryland activities each day.

    What to Bring
Swimmers should attend each day with a swim suit (one-piece suit for girls) and two dry towels. Goggles and Rash Guards are not required but they are strongly encouraged. Unitards (full body swimsuits) are not required but may be preferable for some children who are more sensitive to sun exposure. Swimmers with hair length below the bottom of the neck line should also bring a hair tie or swim cap. Additionally, swimmers should bring comfortable clothes/shoes for dryland exercises and activities. All other pool toys and supplies are provided. Children should not bring personal toys or floatation devices.

    Sunscreen
Sunscreen is provided. We use gluten free Rocky Mountain Sunscreen SPF 50 with no Oxybenzone and no Octinoxate. Children may bring their own personal sunscreen. Our staff will supervise children when applying and reapplying sunscreen throughout the day. We set aside specific times throughout each day ensure sun-screen is properly applied by the campers.
