Frequently Asked Questions
Academic Credit for Upper School Classes
ADMISSIONS: Enrollment in Summer at Crossroads has no bearing on admissions for the academic year.

ABSENCES AND TARDIES: For Upper School credit courses that meet for 29 days, a student may miss a maximum of three meetings of a class.  For classes that meet for less than 29 days, a student may miss two meetings of class.

When absent the student is responsible for completing all assigned work.  Students must complete all course requirements to receive Upper School academic credit. Additional absences preclude the awarding of credit.

Two tardies to the same class will count as one absence. Absences due to family vacations or trips do not alter the credit standards noted above.

CANCELLED CLASSES: We reserve the right to combine or cancel any program or course or to add additional sections and teachers as necessary through Saturday, June 22, 2013. In some cases a course will be offered at more than one time. In the event of a cancellation, we will make every attempt to place the student in a comparable program or course. You will be notified when your choices are unavailable. If we are unable to find a program or course that meets your needs, a full refund will be issued.

ENROLLMENT: Enrollment is open to the public. There is no enrollment deadline; however, enrollment is based on a first-come first-served basis. Programs and courses have a minimum and maximum enrollment. Wait lists will be started once a program or course is full. Many times a second section will be added.

ENROLLMENT KITS: Once processed, each student receives an enrollment kit. This kit contains information specific to programs or courses. Included in these kits are Trip Release Forms, Student Handbooks, and other information we may require prior to the first day of a program or course.

EXTENDED CARE for K-5 PROGRAMS:  There is a $15.00 per day fee for any amount of time during which your child is supervised in the extended care program.  See the Extended Care course description in the K-5 "Select a Program" section of this website.

FACULTY AND STAFF: Faculty and staff listed in this catalogue are subject to change without notice.

FEES: There is a $35.00 fee for any scheduling change made after June 1. Written notification for all cancellations or changes is required. There is a $35.00 fee on all returned checks or invalid or returned charge card payment requests.

FIELD TRIP RELEASE FORMS: All students participating in a program or course that has planned trip(s) to leave campus are required to have this form on file prior to the first day of the program or course. A student is not allowed to leave on a trip from either campus without this form. These forms are included in the enrollment kit.

FOOD SERVICE: Lunch service is available at each campus. K-5th graders and One-Week Swim Campers may purchased lunch through our provider's website campuskitchen.net  For 6-12th grade programs located at the 21st Street Campus, snack and lunch are available on a daily basis and meals can be paid for with cash or meal tickets. Meal tickets can be purchased in the Summer Programs Office.

GENERAL CONDUCT:
Summer at Crossroads’ primary concern is the quality of education for its students. For the summer school to function properly, it is necessary for each member of the community to cooperate in upholding standards of politeness and respect. Students who fail to comply with a commonly accepted standard of behavior will be subject to disciplinary action. Families should refer to the Summer: Student – Parent Handbooks for specific rules and policies.

HOLIDAYS: Crossroads School will be closed Thursday, July 4th, in observance of Independence Day.

IMMUNIZATIONS: All students enrolling in Summer at Crossroads who are not currently enrolled at Crossroads during the academic year, or who were not enrolled in Summer at Crossroads during the summer of 2012, must provide a current record of immunization at the time of enrollment.

PAYMENTS: Tuition in full is due at the time of registration. Spaces are not held without payment in full. Materials and laboratory fees, unless otherwise noted, are included with tuition. Books for Upper School courses are not included in the price of tuition. A book list will be issued in May. MasterCard, VISA, and electronic Checks are accepted as payment in full for online enrollments. Specific information is required, as is indicated on the enrollment form.

Online enrollments can also be processed for those families wanting to pay by check or cash, the enrollment will be held in the office until payment has been received.  Specific information is required, as is indicated on the enrollment form.

PRORATION OF CLASS FEES: Tuition will not be prorated due to absence or late entry. Because many classes are taught in sequential order, late entry to many classes is not allowed.

PROCESSING FEES:  Each student is required to pay an annual $50.00 (non-refundable) enrollment processing fee. If you enroll online and decide to add classes, contact the office, otherwise you may be charged twice for this fee.

REFUNDS and DROPPED CLASSES:
We recognize that summer plans can change.  The School contracts with faculty and assumes material and other costs based upon processed enrollments. A withdrawal by a student does not change the School’s obligation and expense.  Please note the following dates for processing of any refunds (less the non-refundable processing fee of $50.00 per student).

Withdrawals or dropped classes between March 15 and May 31 = 50% refund (less processing fee).
Withdrawals or dropped classes between June 1 and June 15 = 25% refund (less processing fee).
No refunds are given for withdrawals made after June 15.

In the event of a cancelled class or program, Crossroads will issue a refund (including the processing fee) based on the method of payment.

TUITION REDUCTION: In an effort to support socio-economic diversity, limited resources are available through our Tuition Reduction Fund to defray the cost of enrollment. Decisions are made based on demonstrated need. Applicants interested in applying for tuition reduction may download the application packet on this website or call the Summer Programs Office. Tuition Reduction is not automatic for Crossroads students. Summer policy states that each family must submit an abbreviated application and must contribute some amount toward each student’s tuition.
